Tiger Grass - Thysanolaena maxima

Appearance: Tiger grass is a tall, clump-forming perennial with broad, bamboo-like leaves. It is quick growing and gives a wonderful tropical feel to the garden.

Use: Ideal for creating privacy screens or windbreaks in gardens. It can also be used as an ornamental feature for its lush foliage.

Preferred Climate: Thrives in tropical to subtropical climates. Prefers warm, humid conditions and is frost-sensitive.  It grows quickly when it is well watered but is also tolerant to drought once established.

Best Position and Soil Type: Prefers a sunny to partly shaded position in the garden. Grows best in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter.

Mature Height and Width: Reaches a height of 3-4 meters and spreads to a width of 1-2 meters.

Care: Requires regular watering to get established. Benefits from annual pruning to remove dead foliage and can be fertilized annually with a balanced fertilizer for optimal growth.
