Pink Hoya (Hoya carnosa) – A Stunning Flowering Climber
Appearance
Pink Hoya (Hoya carnosa) is a beautiful evergreen climber with thick, waxy green leaves and clusters of fragrant, star-shaped pink flowers. The delicate blooms have a soft, porcelain-like texture and appear in spring and summer.
Use
Ideal for indoor pots, hanging baskets, and trellises, hoya plants make excellent decorative additions to homes, patios, and shaded gardens. Their cascading vines create a stunning visual display, perfect for vertical gardening.
Preferred Climate
Hoya carnosa plants thrive in warm, humid climates but can adapt to cooler conditions if protected from frost. They perform well in tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions.
Best Position and Soil Type
Plant in bright, indirect light for best flowering, though they can tolerate some shade. Use well-draining, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Hoya carnosa grows well in pots with free-draining orchid or succulent mix.
Mature Height and Width
Pink hoya vines can grow up to 3 metres long, making them ideal for climbing structures, hanging baskets, or indoor plant displays.
Care
These young tubestock plants require regular watering until established. Once mature, hoya plants prefer drying out slightly between waterings. Occasional pruning helps maintain shape, and feeding with a balanced liquid fertilizer encourages flowering.
